CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Fourth-ranked NC State women's basketball suffered its second road loss in a row, falling at Miami by a 73-59 score on Thursday night.
Mimi Collins led the Pack in scoring with 18 points, and Saniya Rivers (17 points) and Zoe Brooks (14 points) joined her in double figures.
NC State trailed by 11 (43-32) at the half after facing a deficit of 14 points as late as the :31 mark in the second quarter. The Wolfpack only turned the ball over once in the second quarter, but Miami shot a hot 59.4 percent (19-of-32) in the opening 20 minutes after going 9-of-12 (.750) in the first period alone.
NC State rallied off seven unanswered in the opening minutes of the third quarter to draw within seven (46-39), and despite Miami briefly putting its lead back into double figures, the Pack scored the final four of the period from the charity stripe to face an eight-point deficit (51-43) headed into the fourth.
The Pack managed to trim the Canes' lead to six with 7:21 remaining, the closest the game had been since the 4:16 mark of the first quarter, but Miami put together a late 10-0 run to put the game out of reach for NC State.
The Wolfpack's shooting percentage (.281) and points scored both marked season lows for the squad.
NC State turns its attention to a Sunday afternoon matchup with the Duke Blue Devils. Tip-off from Reynolds Coliseum is scheduled for noon, and the game will be televised nationally on the ACC Network.
