RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State baseball's battery pairing of Jacob Cozart and Dominic Fritton were named to D1Baseball's 2024 MLB Draft Top 100 College Prospects list on Monday.
Cozart, a Second Team All-ACC honoree this past season, ranked No. 8 on D1Baseball's list. Fritton, an ACC All-Freshman Team selection and a Freshman All-American honoree from four publications, checked in at No. 56 on the same list.
Cozart made 52 appearances with 48 starts as the Wolfpack's primary catcher in 2023. The left-handed hitting catcher batted .301 with 10 homers, 14 doubles, two triples, 42 RBI and 107 total bases this past season, leading all NC State batters with 21 runs scored, 16 extra-base hits, 25 RBI and 62 total bases in ACC play.
Defensively, Cozart ranked third among all Division I catchers in 2023 with 12.7 defensive runs saved according to 6-4-3 Charts. He paced the Wolfpack with 472 putouts and sported a .992 fielding percentage behind the plate.
Cozart also attracted attention from ESPN's Kiley McDaniel, ranking No. 5 overall in McDaniel's "Way-too-early 2024 MLB Draft rankings: Top 50 prospects" list. Cozart also was named one of a dozen "Day-One Dudes to know for the 2024 MLB Draft" by D1Baseball in July.
Fritton exceled in his first season in Raleigh, making 17 total appearances with nine starts to rank third on the NC State roster with 62.2 innings pitched and 75 strikeouts. The left-hander led all NC State pitchers (minimum 6 IP) by limiting opposing batters to just a .211 batting average against him.
Fritton led all NC State pitchers with 56 strikeouts and two saves in ACC play. In April, he was one of two NC State pitchers named to the College Baseball Foundation's Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
Cozart and Fritton were also two of just 56 players nationally invited to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp in June.
