Vann Honored with No. 1 Jersey for 2023

NC State head coach Dave Doeren has announced that junior defensive end Davin Vann will be honored with the No. 1 jersey for the 2023 season.

Since 2014, Doeren has given the No. 1 jersey to a player who exhibits an elite work ethic and practice and training habits, while also leading his teammates. "This player doesn't just uphold the standards," said head coach Dave Doeren. "He pushes them higher."

Vann started every game of 2022 at end and was also a dominant force for the Wolfpack's top-rated defense. In the regular season finale vs. UNC while in for a career-high 78 plays, he tallied five total tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, two quarterback hurries and a PBU that resulted in an interception.

The Cary native earned the team's Alpha Rising Award, given to the player showing exceptional improvement, last season as well as the Carey Brewbaker Award for most valuable defensive lineman.

"Davin has earned this honor," Doeren continued. "He has one speed and he is a dominant player who serves others off the field."
