Negrete Named Comeback Gymnast of the Year

RALEIGH – NC State's Chloe Negrete was selected as College Gym News' Comeback Gymnast of the Year on Tuesday, earning one of just six annual awards given to some of the nation's top gymnasts.
Nominees for Comeback Gymnast of the Year must have missed at least the majority of the 2022 season and have then produced effective scores for their team in 2023.
After sitting out the 2022 season due to injury, Negrete shined for the Wolfpack in 2023, highlighted by posting a pair of new career-high scores on Mar. 4, with a 9.950 on beam and a 9.975 on floor.
Negrete additionally matched her career high on vault on two occasions, firing a 9.900 on Jan. 21, and Feb. 26.
Negrete either led or matched the Pack's highest score on beam in 13 of its 14 meets this season, and posted a team-best 15 scores of 9.900+ over the course of the season.
Negrete, a senior, additionally brought home 27 podium finishes in 2023.
Comeback Gymnast of the Year is just the latest of an impressive list of honors for Negrete, as she is a nine-time All-EAGL honoree, a six-time EAGL All-Tournament honoree, a four-time All-EAGL Scholastic Team selection, and a three-time WCGA Academic All-American.
