NC State's Emily Shepard Named EAGL Gymnast of the Year

DURHAM, N.H. – NC State's Emily Shepard was announced as the 2023 EAGL Gymnast of the Year on Saturday, Mar. 18, for the second time in her career.
Shepard becomes the first gymnast in NC State history and the fifth in EAGL history to be named the award winner multiple times.
Shepard closed the regular season leading the league in all-around NQS at 39.420, while simultaneously serving as one of three EAGL gymnasts who finished the regular-season campaign ranked in the top ten in NQS in three of four events.
Shepard additionally had the league's highest average all-around score at 39.320 while matching the league's best all-around score of the season at 39.550.
Having claimed Gymnast of the Year honors twice during the regular season, Shepard's 39.550 all-around score in the Pack's Mar. 4, dual meet against Rutgers tied NC State's program record for the best all-around total in school history.
Shepard finished third in all-around at the EAGL Championship meet at 39.200, finishing with EAGL All-Tournament First Team honors on vault and bars.
