Pack Finishes in Sixth Place at General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The NC State men's golf team finished the two-day General Hackler Championship held at The Dunes Beach & Golf Club in sixth place on Tuesday.
Michael La Sasso paced the Pack with a third-place finish, one shot behind the co-medalists. The Raleigh native shot under-par all three rounds on his way to finishing 12-under par. La Sasso's score of 12-under par is the best by an NC State player since Maximilian Steinlechner shot 13-under par at the Rod Myers Invitational in September 2021.
Maximilian Steinlechner was next for the Pack in a tie for 17th place. Steinlechner shot below par in the firt and second rounds on his way to a three-round score of two-under par.
Spencer Oxendine finished in a tie for 31st place. The Fayetteville, N.C., native had the best round of the tournament by an NC State golfer with a six-under par 66 in the second round.
Ethan Choi finished in a tie for 51st place and Brandon Einstein was next for the Pack in a tie for 58th place.
Playing as an individual, Carter Graf finished in a tie for 31st place.
ETSU won the tournament by six shots over second-place Virginia. Auburn was three shots back of the Cavaliers. NC State finished in sixth place, five shots back of Louisville and Kent State who tied for fourth place.
The 14-team field featured eight teams ranked in the top-50 in the Golfstat rankings and the Pack finished ahead of four of the top-50 teams.
The Pack is back in action Sunday, March 26 when it begins play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay held at the Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.
