Four Wolfpack Gymnasts Selected to All-EAGL Teams

RALEIGH – The East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) announced its 2023 first and second All-EAGL team selections on Monday, Mar. 13, with four different members of the NC State roster selected for 12 different honors.
The Wolfpack saw nine of its honors come in the first-team category, with Emily Shepard earning a first-team title on vault, bars, floor, and all-around, while Chloe Negrete was named to the first-team roster on vault, beam, and floor.
Alexis Ortega was a first-team honoree on the bars and all-around, while she was named a second-team selection on beam alongside Shepard.
NC State's list of accolades was rounded out by Lauren Rutherford holding a spot on the second-team floor squad.
The recognition marked Rutherford's third time as an All-EAGL honoree, while Ortega is now a four-time selection and Negrete is a nine-time All-EAGL squad member. Shepard currently leads all Wolfpack gymnasts with 15 regular-season selections.
The Pack will compete for its final EAGL Championship on Mar. 18, in Durham, N.H., before transitioning to the ACC for the 2024 season.
