Diamond Johnson Included on 2023 Naismith Trophy Midseason Team

RALEIGH – Wolfpack women's basketball guard Diamond Johnson has been named to the 30-player midseason team for the 2023 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy.
Johnson averages a team-best 13.6 points and also leads the 22nd-ranked NC State squad with 3.6 assists per game. She is shooting over 40 percent overall (.455) and from distance (.423), with her three-point clip ranking 21st nationally and second in the ACC this season.
A native of Philadelphia, Johnson has scored 10+ points in a team-leading 15 outings this season, highlighted by a pair of 20+ point games against No. 10 Iowa (22 points) and No. 7 Notre Dame (20 points). On the playmaking front, the Wolfpack guard dished out a season-high seven assists in the Pack's November win over Vanderbilt and has 3+ assists in all but five contests she's played in this season.
Johnson is just 18 points away from reaching the 1,000 point milestone with 982 on her three-season, 74-game career. In total, she averages 11.8 points and 2.6 assists on her career while shooting 44.8 percent (373-of-833) overall and 40.6 percent (155-of-382) from three-point range.
