Pack Closes Watersound Invitational in Eighth Place

Michael La Sasso led Pack with 54-hole score of two-under par
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – The NC State men's golf team took on a stacked 11-team field at the Watersound Invitational and finished in eight place.
The tournament field had eight teams ranked in the top-40.
NC State was led by freshman Michael La Sasso. The Raleigh native opened the tournament with a seven-under par 65 and closed the tournament with rounds of 74 and 75 to finish in a tie for 22nd at two-under par.
Maximilian Steinlechner improved every round to finish in a tie for 28th place. After an opening round 75, he shot a 71 in the second round and a 70 in the third and final round to finish the tournament with a 54-hole score of even-par.
Brandon Einstein finished one shot back of Steinlechner in a tie for 31st-place. After an opening round of 71, Einstein fired back-to-back rounds of 73.
Spencer Oxendine finished in 49th place. The Fayetteville, N.C., native had his best round of the tournament in the second round on Monday when he shot a one-under par, 71.
Ethan Choi rounded out the NC State lineup. Like Steinlechner, Choi improved every round, firing rounds of 77, 76 and 74.
Jake Herring played as an individual this week and finished in 62nd place.
Top-ranked Vanderbilt fended off Georgia Tech to claim the team crown by one shot. Tournament-host Florida State finished in third, 13 shots back of the Yellow Jackets.
The Seminoles' Frederik Kjettrup took home individual honors with a three-round score of 18-under par, five shots ahead of second place.
NC State returns to action Monday, March 6 when it opens play at the Wake Forest Invitational at Pinehurst No. 2.
