
Pack Falters Late to Fall to 12th-ranked Tennessee

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The NC State men's basketball team battled back from an 11-point second half deficit to tie the game, but couldn't get over the hump as 12th-ranked Tennessee won, 79-70, Saturday evening inside the Frost Bank Center.
DJ Horne led three NC State players in double figures with 16 points. DJ Burns added 15 points and a season-high five assists. Jayden Taylor also reached double figures with 11 points.
Kam Woods made his program debut, checking in in the first half and finished with nine points and four rebounds.
Tennessee led 55-44 with 12:13 to play, but the Pack responded with a 16-5 run to tie the game at 60 with 7:17 to play.
The Vols got an offensive rebound on its next offensive possession and drained a three-pointer to retake the lead and the Pack could never draw even again.
Two Burns free throws with 3:45 to play cut Tennessee's lead to two, 67-65, but the Vols responded with a 12-2 run to put the game away.
Tennessee was led by Josiah-Jordan James with 23 points and Zakai Zeigler added 20 points for the Vols who made 12 three-pointers in the win.
The Pack is back in action Wednesday night when it hosts Saint Louis at PNC Arena. Tipoff against the Billikens is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
