Armstrong posted season-bests in passing yards and touchdowns and directed the Wolfpack to a 39-20 victory over North Carolina for its first five-game ACC winning streak in 50 years.
Leading the Wolfpack to 504 yards of total offense, Armstrong helped lead the Pack to their highest total-offense total in an ACC game since 2018. Connecting on 71% of his throws (22-31), Armstrong threw for three touchdowns and no interceptions.
The Shelby, Ohio native added another 22 yards on the ground, setting a new NC State single season record for rushing by a quarterback. His 544 yards on the ground this season break the mark set by Jacoby Brissett in 2014.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 524 different quarterbacks from 133 schools have been recognized. Sixty players were honored during the 2022 season, while 64 quarterbacks have been recognized this year.
