Red-Hot Second Half from BYU Dooms Pack

Cougars shot 70 percent in the second half to overcome halftime deficit
LAS VEGAS – The NC State men's basketball team led for over 29 minutes of game time, but BYU shot 70 percent in the second half to overtake the Pack and win, 95-86.
With the loss, NC State falls to 4-1 on the season while BYU improves to 6-0.
Casey Morsell led the Pack with a career-high 28 points. The grad guard from Ft. Washington, Md., shot 10-of-17 from the field.
Jayden Taylor was next for the Pack with 17 points while DJ Burns finished with 16 and DJ Horne had 14.
After BYU jumped out to a 3-0 lead, NC State scored the next nine points to take a 9-3 lead. The Pack would lead the rest of the first half and would not relinquish the lead until a BYU three-pointer with 10:06 remaining in the game gave the Cougars a 66-64 lead.
The Pack would score the next five points to retake the lead, but BYU responded with an 8-0 and NC State would never leave again.
After shooting 43.3 percent in the first half, BYU shot 70 percent in the final 20 minutes, including 9-of-15 from three-point range.
The Pack forced 8 BYU turnovers in the opening 10 minutes which helped the Pack jump out to a lead as large as 12 points in the first half of the opening 20 minutes.
BYU only had one turnover in the final 10 minutes of the opening half which allowed the Cougars to cut NC State's lead to five, 43-38, at the break.
For the game, BYU turned it over 17 times against just nine turnovers for the Pack, but
NC State is back in action Tuesday when it plays at Ole Miss in the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
