Rivers on Wooden Top 50 Watch List

LOS ANGELES – Wolfpack women's basketball's Saniya Rivers added another National Player of the Year watch list to her early-season resumè as she was announced as part of the 2023-24 John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 on Tuesday.
Rivers was also one of 50 players named to the 2023-24 Jersey Mike's Naismith Women's Player of the Year watch list prior to the start of the season.
The Wilmington, N.C., native headed into her junior campaign after having been named ACC Sixth Player of the Year in 2022-23, her first season with the Pack, and has since posted a career-best stat line against second-ranked UConn.
The 6-1 junior led all players on the floor with a new career high of 33 points against UConn and is averaging 22.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals in a pair of Wolfpack wins this season.
On her three-year career, Rivers has scored in double figures 12 times.
The Wooden Award committee will announce a midseason list and late season list before releasing the National Ballot of the top 15 players who will be voted upon by nearly 1,000 voters. The Wooden Award All-American Team will be announced the week of the Elite Eight, and the winner of the 2023 John R. Wooden Award will be presented in Los Angeles in April.
