Wolfpack Reach Finals in Single and Doubles Draw of Carolina Regional Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Wolfpack made their presence felt with a pair of finals appearances in the ITA DI Women's Carolina Regional Championships as Sophie Abrams reached the A2 Women's Open Singles finals. Anna Zyryanova paired with Abrams and reached the A1 Women's Open Doubles finals.
Abrams fell in a closely contested final against No. 31 Anika Yarlagadda (UNC) 7-6(3) 6-4. Despite the loss, Abrams finished the fall campaign with 16 wins, giving her the most for any player in program history.Zyryanova and Abrams continued their strong fall with a final appearance after reaching the semi-finals in the All-American Championships. Another matchup with UNC saw the Tar Heels win 7-5, 6-1.
The semi-finals saw a trio of NC State players, as Abigail Renchli, joined Abrams and Zyryanova with three wins in the tournament.
Freshman Maddy Zampardo also had a strong showing, with a quarterfinal appearance in the singles draw and reaching the semifinals with Ginna Dittmann following wins over Coastal Carolina, Clemson, and Wake Forest.
The Wolfpack will close out the Fall schedule with the NC State/ Duke Invitational Nov. 3-5
