Emily Shepard Represents NC State at Women Leaders in Sport National Convention

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Emily Shepard of NC State Gymnastics served as one of 18 ACC Student-Athlete Representatives during the 2023 Women Leaders in Sports National Convention this week, one of two gymnasts in the league to represent their institution.
Founded in 1979, Women Leaders in Sports looks to develop, connect, advance, and champion women leaders who aim to work in sports. This year's conference was hosted in New Orleans, La. Morgan Stanley's Carla Harris, the NCAA's Charlie Baker, owner of the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans Gayle Benson, the NFL Network's Kimmi Chex, The Dignitas Agency's Angela Taylor, and Lindsey Pollak leading the event as keynote and featured speakers.
Shepard is a senior at NC State majoring in Biology, and is the first gymnast in program history to be named a conference gymnast of the year twice.
Shepard will make her ACC debut for the Wolfpack in January, as the league will be sponsoring gymnastics as a varsity sport for the first time since 1984 this year.
