Pack Falls Short in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA. – The NC State volleyball team fell short after a tough battle at No. 10 Pitt, to finish week one of ACC play, 1-1.
Amanda Rice led the Pack with 12 kills, most of which came in sets three and four.
Priscilla Hernandez led with 26 digs, while Kristen McDaniel tallied 25 assists for the Wolfpack.
Set One (29-31)
The Pack struggled to build momentum after Pitt took an 8-1 lead. After a kill by Rice and a block by Jada Allen and Vanja Bukilic, the Pack started to minimize the Panthers lead. A 5-2 run by the Pack shocked the Panthers, forcing them to take a timeout. After an intense back and forth battle, Pitt ended up taking three straight points to take the set.
Set Two (13-25)
The Pack kept the set close to start, but a seven point streak by the Panthers shook the Pack. NC State made several attempts to stop Pitt, but were unsuccessful.
Set Three (25-22)
The Pack kept the set close, only allowing the Panthers a three point lead at most. Rice was a game changer for the Pack as she tallied 5 kills. The Pack took an 11-10 lead that started a back and forth battle with neither team leading by more than two. NC State shocked Pitt and took set three.
Set Four (23-25)
The Pack maintained momentum from set three and started off with a 4-2 lead. The Panthers went on a eight point streak, which was stopped after an attack error by Pitt. The Pack took four straight points to minimize the Panther's lead to only two and forced them to call a timeout. The Wolfpack continued to battle and took three straight points to make it 20-22. With Pitt leading 24-20, the Pack battled back to make it 23-24, but the Panthers took the next point to win the match.

The Wolfpack will head back to Raleigh to host Florida State and Miami.
