Pack Collects Four ACC End-of-Year Accolades

GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State freshman Luca Staeheli has been named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Year, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Three members of the Pack, including Staeheli, were named to the 2022 All-ACC Teams, tying for the most honors in a single season for NC State. Rafa Izquierdo Luque and Robin Catry each attained their first career All-ACC honors with Second Team nods. Staeheli tabbed a spot on the Third Team.
Staeheli's Freshman of the Year honors are his second following the conclusion of the 2022 season as he additionally was named the ITA Carolina Region Rookie of the Year. He is the first member of the Wolfpack to garner the ACC Freshman of the Year honors after a season in which he compiled an 18-8 singles record alongside a 16-4 doubles record. The Wollerau, Switzerland, native put together a 3-0 record against ranked doubles opponents as well.
Catry totaled 21 wins in singles over the course of the 2021-22 season and reached a season-high singles ranking of No. 31. He was a consistent part of the NC State doubles lineup as well, spending the most of the year ranked alongside Staeheli. The duo reached a ranking as high as No. 19. The junior played primarily at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions in singles and recorded a 5-1 record when playing in the No. 3 spot.
Izquierdo Luque played exclusively at No. 1 singles during 2022 dual match competition, defeating five ranked opponents at that spot. The senior achieved his highest singles ranking of the season at No. 82 and closed out the year ranked No. 96.
