NC State posts back-to-back top-25 finishes for first time in school history
RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State Athletics has posted back-to-back top-25 finishes in the Directors' Cup for the first time in school history, as the Wolfpack recorded its second-highest finish ever by finishing 17th nationally for the 2021-22 academic year.
There is definitely Strength in the Pack, as NC State Athletics enjoyed both team and individual success in its 23 varsity sports in 2021-22. A total of 11 Wolfpack squads finished their seasons in the top-20, seven in the top-10, and four in the top-5.
Women's Cross Country led the way, winning the first NCAA Championship in program history (the third national title won by the storied NC State program). All five of the Pack's top finishers that counted towards the team score earned All-American honors, setting a program record for most All-American honorees in a single season.
Head women's cross country head coach Laurie Henes was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
Five NC State student-athletes brought home four individual national titles during the year: Katharine Berkoff (WS&D – 100-yard backstroke), Kacper Stokowski (MS&D – 100-yard backstroke), Jaeda Daniel & Nell Miller (WTen – Doubles title), and Katelyn Tuohy (WT&F – Outdoor 5,000m).
Four teams also brought home conference titles: Women's Cross Country (6th straight), Wrestling (4th straight), Women's Basketball (3rd straight), and Men's Swimming & Diving.
Overall, NC State earned 102 All-American accolades and garnered 21 individual conference titles.
