
NC State Will Host 2023 ACC/B1G Softball Challenge

NC State Welcomes Syracuse, Iowa and Purdue
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast and Big Ten Conferences have announced the host sites and games for the 2023 ACC/B1G Softball Challenge with NC State selected as a hosting site.
The Wolfpack welcomes Syracuse from the ACC alongside Purdue and Iowa from the Big Ten to Dail Softball Stadium for the eight-game challenge. The Challenge is scheduled for Friday through Sunday on Feb. 17-19, 2023. Game times for Friday and Saturday will be announced at a later date.
NC State opens action in the Challenge in the second game on Friday, Feb. 17 against Iowa. On Saturday, the Pack will play two games in the evening beginning with a rematch against Iowa followed by the nightcap versus Purdue.
The final day begins at 10 a.m. with the Orange facing Iowa before the Wolfpack wraps up action with a 12:30 p.m. game against Purdue.
The most recent ACC/B1G Challenge was in 2020 where NC State went 2-0 against then-RV Ohio State while splitting contests against then-RV Illinois at Dail Softball Stadium. For the upcoming season, the Pack is 1-1 in program history against both the Boilermakers and Hawkeyes.
The ACC owns a 3-2 lead on the Big Ten during the first five years of the Challenge. The ACC won the Challenge in 2017, 2018 and 2020, with the Big Ten claiming the title in 2016 and 2019.
In addition to NC State, there are three other host sites – North Carolina (UNC, Virginia, Minnesota and Maryland), Georgia Tech (GT, Louisville, Wisconsin and Illinois) and Clemson (Clemson, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Ohio State). Duke, Virginia Tech and Florida State will play their Challenge games at the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational against Indiana, Michigan and Nebraska.
