Forbes to play in Women’s Professional Fastpitch
RALEIGH – Former NC State softball star Tatyana Forbes has signed a contract with the Smash It Sports Vipers in the new Women's Professional Fastpitch league.
"I am incredibly excited and thankful for the opportunity to continue my softball career professionally this summer with Smash It Sports Vipers!" Forbes said.
WPF made an announcement in late September of 2021 stating the beginning of a new professional softball league slated to begin in June 2022. The season will be played from June 15 to August 15. The Vipers are located in Rochester, N.Y. and were the first team to join the new league.
Forbes played for NC State from 2020-21, starting every game in right field. In her final season with the Pack, she led the team in hits (51) including a team-best 15 multi-hit performances while being second on the team with a .359 batting average. Additionally, Forbes was speedy on the base paths as she racked up 14 steals in 17 attempts.
Throughout the 2021 campaign she earned a laundry list of accolades including being named to the ACC All-Tournament Team, USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List, for the second time in her career and was named a JWOS Preseason All-American.
After college, Forbes played in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with Team Mexico. With Mexico Forbes started out hot as she went 1-for-2 in the opening game against Canada with four putouts and an assist in a double play starting in left field.
Forbes will report to Rochester on June 10 to begin training for the season with the team.
