GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the fifth time this season and the third-straight week, NC State women's tennis rookie Priska Nugroho earned citation as the ACC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Nugroho's five weekly honors marked the most by any player, rookie or otherwise, in the league during 2022 dual match play.
She helped the Wolfpack close out its regular-season slate with back-to-back sweeps over Louisville and No. 39 Notre Dame. Nugroho went 2-0 in singles action and also added a doubles win over the Cardinals to go unbeaten between the two matches.
Nugroho's Friday doubles victory, a 6-0 decision on court three, put her doubles record in ACC play at 10-1. She also reached the 20-win plateau in singles with her perfect weekend at the No. 3 spot, hitting that mark without having played a fall season. She beat Chelsea Sawyer of Louisville in a supertiebreaker on Friday and then closed out a 6-1, 6-1 straight-sets win over Yashna Yellayi of Notre Dame on Saturday.
The Wolfpack now turns its attention to postseason competition, which opens with the ACC Championships next week. The conference tournament will run April 20-24 at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga. NC State is the No. 5 seed for the event and will open action at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
