SEATTLE – Wolfpack women's basketball guard Raina Perez has accepted a WNBA training camp invitation from the Seattle Storm.
During two seasons with NC State after transferring from Cal State Fullerton, Perez played in all 61 of the team's games and started in 59 of those. She averaged 30.2 minutes, 9.0 points and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 45.4 percent overall (206-of-454), 37.3 percent from behind the arc (79-of-212) and 85.1 percent from the free throw line (57-of-67).
A solid all-around player, Perez had a knack for stepping up in some of the biggest moments for the program over the last two years. She hit the game-winning jumper in the 2021 ACC Tournament title game, knocking down a shot with 2.1 seconds remaining to secure NC State's victory over top-seeded Louisville. Perez also snagged a steal with 14 seconds remaining in the Pack's 2022 Sweet Sixteen win over Notre Dame and laid in the go-ahead bucket to secure the team's first trip to the Elite Eight since 1998.
Perez tied the program's record for single-game assists with 13 in a road game at North Carolina last season, and she set the team record for dimes in an NCAA Tournament game with 10 in the Pack's 2022 Elite Eight outing against UConn.
Following training camp, the 2022 WNBA season tips off on Friday, May 6. The league's 26th regular season will conclude on Sunday, Aug. 14, followed by the WNBA Playoffs.
