
Elissa Cunane Adds WBCA All-America Regional Finalist to List of 2021-22 Honors

Wolfpack center honored as finalist for third season in a row
ATLANTA – NC State women's basketball senior Elissa Cunane has been named a regional finalist for the 2022 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America Team for the third season in a row, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
Cunane is one of 52 candidates receiving consideration for the honors this year after earning honorable mention status in 2020 and 2021.
The Wolfpack center adds to a storied career and an already-lengthy list of postseason honors this season and across her career. Cunane has already garnered Second Team All-America recognition from the Associated Press and the USBWA. In addition, she was named ACC Tournament MVP for the second season in a row and was a consensus First Team All-ACC honoree for the third year in a row. Cunane is also one of five finalists for the 2022 Lisa Leslie Award that recognizes the top center in women's NCAA Division I basketball and is one of 15 players on the Women's National Ballot for the 2021 John. R. Wooden Award that honors the Player of the Year.
Cunane is putting up season averages of 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 52.8 percent shooting (169-of-320), 83.1 percent from the charity stripe (108-of-130) and 1.6 assists per game.
The Summerfield, N.C., native is the leading scorer and the anchor of the Pack's four-out, one-in system. She has scored in double figures in 26 games, highlighted by five 20+ point outings and a team-leading eight double-doubles.
Across 123 games played in her four-year career at NC State, Cunane averages 14.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 54.0 percent shooting.
The 2022 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America Team will be announced on Thursday, March 31. The selection committee will choose 10 players from the 52 regional finalists.
