
Men’s Tennis To Host Pair of Top-20 Opponents

RALEIGH - The NC State men's tennis program is set to host a pair of top-20 squads in No. 20 Northwestern (March 21 at 3 p.m.) and No. 7 South Carolina (March 23 at 3 p.m.) at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
Fans attending matches before 5 p.m. on weekdays will need to obtain a virtual parking permit here.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
In the March 9 ITA rankings, Robin Catry remains ranked in singles at No. 88. The junior checks into the doubles list at No. 25 with Luca Staeheli.
The duo of Martins Rocens and Fons Van Sambeek rounds out the group of ranked players with the No. 15 spot in the ITA doubles rankings.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Northwestern comes off a 4-0 win over Illinois-Chicago on March 12 in its first conference matchup of the season. The Wildcats hold an 11-4 overall record.
Steven Forman ranks 67th in the country in singles, having defeated three ranked opponents, and Trice Pickens checks into the national singles rankings at No. 100. Pickens has taken down two ranked singles foes in 2022.
SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
Seventh-ranked South Carolina has faced eight top-25 opponents in 2022, coming away with four wins that included a takedown of then-No. 1 Tennessee.
Daniel Rodrigues ranks 16th nationally in singles, and Toby Samuel is ranked 86th. Rodrigues checks into the doubles ranks at No. 30 with Connor Thomson
LAST TIME OUT
NC State made the trip to then-No. 6 Wake Forest on March 10, falling in a 5-2 decision. Rafa Izquierdo Luque came away with a ranked singles win, defeating 78th-ranked Jurabek Karimov 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 on court one.
Catry also notched a singles win on court three, defeating No. 53 Edward Nava 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.
UP NEXT
NC State goes on the road, traveling to Virginia for a March 25 matchup and Virginia Tech for a March 27 competition.
