GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following another perfect weekend of action across the board, NC State women's tennis graduate student Jaeda Daniel was named ACC Player of the Week for the second time in a row on Tuesday afternoon.
Daniel won all three of her singles matches and tacked on a doubles victory in the Wolfpack's team wins over No. 21 Tennessee, South Carolina and ECU. She helped NC State improve to 8-0 on the season and earn its third victory over a ranked opponent in the still-early stages of 2022 dual match play.
Playing at the No. 1 singles spot for the entirety of the season thus far, Daniel earned two ranked wins over the weekend. She kicked off her run with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 14 Rebeka Mertena (Tennessee) and bettered that with the highest ranked win over her career, also a straight-sets decision over No. 2 Sarah Hamner (South Carolina). Daniel won that match 6-1, 7-6 (5) to clinch the Pack's team victory. She also gutted out a three-setter over ECU's Martina Muzzolon to close out the weekend.
Daniel and partner Nell Miller only completed once doubles match over the course of the weekend, but that decision was a 6-0 win against ECU on Sunday.
Next up, NC State heads to Madison, Wis., this weekend to compete in the 2022 ITA National Team Indoor Championships, which runs Feb. 11-14. The bracket will be released soon, and all information about the tournament can be found here.
