GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State women's tennis swept the ACC weekly awards following its weekend win over No. 3 Texas as Abigail Rencheli was named Player of the Week and Priska Nugroho was honored as Freshman of the Week.
This marks Nugroho's second such recognition of the season as she was also Freshman of the Week on Jan. 25 following her Wolfpack debut. Rencheli has been named Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Both women played key roles in helping the Wolfpack defeat the third-ranked Longhorns on the road on Sunday. The victory tied as the highest ranked win in program history and was even more impressive considering the contest being a rematch of last year's NCAA Final Four against the reigning national champion.
Rencheli and Nugroho both won their singles matches in straight sets to contribute to the 4-3 team tally and also picked up doubles wins on their respective courts.
Rencheli tallied the second-highest ranked singles win of her career and her highest of the year over No. 26 Kylie Collins. Her 6-3, 6-4 victory clinched the match for the Wolfpack as she served out the match at the No. 2 singles spot. Rencheli and Amelia Rajecki also helped clinch the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Peyton Stearns and Charlotte Chavatipon.
Nugroho defeated Chavatipon 6-2, 6-1 on court three, and she and doubles partner Sara Nayar beat Vivian Ovrootsky and Bella Zamarripa 6-1 on the third doubles court.
