NC State's Trent Hidlay named ACC Wrestler of the Week

RALEIGH After a successful weekend in Las Vegas and continuing his undefeated streak on the season, NC State wrestler Trent Hidlay was named the ACC Wrestler of the Week.

Hidlay, the junior from Lewiston, Pa., won the 184-pound class at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. During the two-day event, Hidlay defeated three ranked opponents. Two of his wins came against Parker Keckeisen of Northern Iowa and Kalen Romero of Ohio, who were both previously undefeated. Hidlay started off his quest for a title by pinning Darion Johnson of Western Wyoming. He followed that with an 18-3 technical fall win over Leo Tarantino of Harvard before wins over two straight ranked opponents - No. 10 Matt Finesilver of Michigan and Romero, who is ranked No. 4.

The team finished second overall at the event.

Hidlay, who won the silver medal at the U23 World Championships in October, is 10-0 this season.

Up next for Hidlay and the Pack is a trip to New Orleans (Dec. 19-20) for The Collegiate Wrestling Duals.
