RALEIGH, N.C. – For the second time this season, kicker Christopher Dunn was named a Lou Groza Award Star of the Week, as announced by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission on Monday morning.
Dunn, a graduate student from Lexington, North Carolina, drilled all three of his field-goal tries on Saturday to remain perfect on the season. Dunn is now 18-for-18 on the year and leads the nation in field goals made without a miss, converting four more tries than the next closest FBS placekicker who remains perfect on the season.
Dunn connected from 33 yards, 51 yards and 25 yards in NC State's 30-21 home victory over No. 20 Wake Forest. Dunn's 51-yarder marked his second made kick of over 50 yards this season. Of his 18 makes this year, nine of them have been from 40 yards or longer.
In total, Dunn scored 12 of NC State's points in the win over the Demon Deacons. He is 24-for-24 on PATs and is one of only five kickers in the nation who have yet to miss a kick of any kind this season.
The Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award is presented annually to the nation's top collegiate place-kicker.
