NC State's Laurie Henes, Katelyn Tuohy win USTFCCCA national awards

The USTFCCCA announced its national award winners on Monday and NC State brought home a pair of honors.Â

Wolfpack head coach Laurie Henes repeated as the USTFCCCA National Coach of the Year, while sophomore Katelyn Tuohy was named the Women's Athlete of the Year.

Henes led NC State to a second straight NCAA cross country national championship.Â

In her 17th year as head coach at NC State, Henes capped off an undefeated season with a second NCAA title, becoming the first program at the school to repeat as national champions in a team sport. The Wolfpack also won the Southeast Region Championships, ACC Cross Country Championships, Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, Joe Piane Invitational and Adidas Wolfpack Invitational.

Last week, Henes was named the Southeast Region female Coach of the Year for the seventh straight time and 11th time overall.Â

Tuohy ended the 2022 season with her first individual national title, finishing with a course-record time of (19:27.6) in Stillwater, Ok. The Stony Point, NY native also won the Southeast Region Championship and the ACC championship, where she also set a course record. During the regular season she also finished first at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational and the Joe Piane Invitational.Â
