Tuohy, Chmiel finalist for Honda Sport Award

NC State duo fresh off second NCAA title
RALEIGH NC State's Katelyn Tuohy and Kelsey Chmiel were two of the four finalists for the Class of 2023 Honda Sport Award for Cross Country.
The Award is given annually to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies "the best of the best in collegiate athletics".
The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2023 Honda Cup which will be presented during the live telecast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards Presented by Honda on CBS Sports Network in June.
Tuohy, a sophomore from Stony Point, NY, is fresh off her first NCAA Cross Country Individual Championship. During a perfect 2022 season, Tuohy also won the ACC and Southeast Regional championships. She helped the Wolfpack capture a second straight NCAA championship over the weekend in Stillwater, OK.
Tuohy set a course record, finishing in the time of 19:27.7.
Chmiel, a junior from Saratoga Springs, NY, finished third at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, with a time of 19:37.1. She was the runner up at the Southeast Regionals and the ACC Championships.
Tuohy and Chmiel were both named All-Americans following their performances at the NCAA championships.
The other two finalists were Elise Stearns from Northern Arizona University and Parker Valby from Florida.
