#10 Wolfpack Hits Road for Ranked Clash with #5 UConn

HARTFORD, Conn. – In what will be a rematch of the double overtime regional final from last year's NCAA Tournament, 10th-ranked NC State women's basketball (4-0) hits the road for a matchup against fifth-ranked UConn (2-0) on Sunday afternoon.
The top-10 clash, which will be played in Hartford, Conn., at the XL Center, is set to tip off at 1 p.m. on FS1. Andrew Sanders and Ernie Myers will have the radio call on WKNC 88.1 FM in Raleigh and on the Varsity app.
A WIN ON SUNDAY WOULD
• Be the 1,003rd win in program history (1,002-478)
• Be head coach Wes Moore's 785th career win (784-238)
• Be Moore's 227th win at NC State (226-69)
• Be the team's first road win over a Top 5 opponent since Feb. 1, 2021 when it beat top-ranked Louisville
• Snap a five-game streak for the Huskies and be the Pack's first victory over UConn since March 1998
• Mark NC State's fifth all-time victory over the nation's No. 5 squad, its 24th over a Top 5 opponent and its 154th over a ranked team
• Be NC State's fourth true road win in a row in a streak that started on Feb. 10, 2022 at Boston College
NOTING THE WOLFPACK (4-0)
• The Wolfpack ranks in the top 25 nationally in scoring offense (20th - 88.3), scoring defense (18th - 46.5), three-point percentage (9th - .443) and three-point percentage defense (25th - .204). NC State and Illinois are the only two teams in the nation with such rankings in all four of those categories.
• Three Wolfpack players average 10+ points, 4+ rebounds and 50+ percent shooting.
• Diamond Johnson leads the team in scoring (12.5), three-point percentage (.667), steals (2.0) and assists (3.5). She has dished out 14 assists with just two turnovers through four games.
• Johnson's three-point percentage ranks second nationally and first among Power Five players who have attempted 15+ threes this season.
• Madison Hayes (11.5) and Jada Boyd (11.3) also average double figures in scoring this season. Hayes joins Johnson on a three-game 10+ point streak, and she most recently secured her first career double-double against Mount St. Mary's and set a new career high in scoring against Charlotte.
• NC State has won each of its first four games of the year by 34 or more points, most recently completing two 48-point victories over Mount St. Mary's and Charlotte.
SERIES HISTORY (UConn leads 7-2)
• Sunday marks the 10th overall meeting between NC State and UConn.
• This marks the second time that Moore and UConn's Geno Auriemma will face off as head coaches. Moore was also an assistant coach on Kay Yow's staff when the teams matched up during the 1994-95 campaign.
• NC State is 1-1 in road games at UConn. The team won its first trip to the Huskies by a 62-59 score in Dec. 1991 and fell to the Huskies in Dec. 2003.
• The Pack's additional win over the Huskies was in the 1998 NCAA Tournament regional final. NC State beat UConn by a 60-52 score in Dayton, Ohio, to advance to its first and only NCAA Final Four.
• UConn is on a five-game winning streak in the series. NC State's last win in the series was that 1998 win.
• Sunday's contest marks the sixth time that NC State and UConn will meet as a pair of ranked squads. The Pack is 2-4 in the previous such contests.

The instant classic featured 13 lead changes and 10 ties and extended into overtime where then-junior Jakia Brown-Turner drained a three in the corner with 0.8 seconds left in to keep her team's hopes alive and send it to a second overtime.
