NC State women capture sixth-straight regional title

Wolfpack men finish fourth, await NCAA at-large invite
LOUISVILLE, KY - Katelyn Tuohy, Kelsey Chmiel and Samantha Bush were the first three athletes to cross the finish line as the NC State women captured a sixth straight regional championship.

With the win at the Southeast Region, the team advances to the NCAA championships on November 19th in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The top two teams and top four individuals advance to the NCAA championships.Â

The Wolfpack finished with six runners in the top 15 and seven in the top 20.

NC State finished with a team score of 25 points, ahead of ACC foes UNC (76) and UVA (109).

Once again it was Tuohy, the sophomore from Stony Point, NY, finishing ahead of the Pack, crossing the finish line at 19:49.1.

Chmiel wasn't too far away, finishing the race in 19:58.6, with Bush coming in third at 20:08.0.

Sydney Seymour (7th place, 20:12.5), Nevada Mareno (12th, 20:25.6) and Brooke Rauber (14th, 20:37.4) rounded out the top 15 finishers for NC State. Gionna Quarzo finished 20th with a time of 20:39.9.

All seven of the NC State athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Region team.Â

On the men's side, the Pack finished fourth overall with 96 points.

Senior Ian Shanklin was the first NC State runner to cross the finish line, finishing 7th with a time of 29:59.6.

Brett Gardner finished 12th (30:03.7) and Robinson Snider (30:11.2) finished 18th. The trio of Shanklin, Gardner and Snider were all named to the USTFCCCA All-Region team. Ian Harrison (26th, 30:15.7) and Hannes Burger (33rd, 30:25.5) rounded out the scoring for the Wolfpack.

The NC State men will now wait and see if they earned an at-larger bid to the NCAA nationals. The NCAA field will be announced on Saturday at 5 p.m.
