NC State wins in straight sets for seventh time in 2022
RALEIGH – NC State volleyball (12-10, 6-5) began its weekend slate with a win over ACC foe Clemson (12-11, 3-8) on Friday, defeating the Tigers in straight sets to earn its seventh 3-0 win of the year. It was the Wolfpack's third 3-0 sweep in conference play.
Freshman Ava Brizard led the way for the Pack offense with 16 kills, the most she's had in Reynolds Coliseum this season. Vanja Bukilic added 11 kills of her own, while NC State's offensive effort was aided by 18 assists from Naomi Cabello and 13 from Kristen McDaniel.
Defensively, Jada Allen posted eight blocks and a strong collective showing from the Pack limited the Tigers to two set scores below 15.
Set One (25-11)
NC State never trailed in the opening set, beginning with a 3-0 run and closing by winning 10 of the last 11 points. A dominant effort from the Pack was driven by taking advantage of 10 attack errors from Clemson.
Set Two (25-20)
After falling behind by as many as five points in the middle frame, NC State battled back from a 10-5 deficit to take its first lead at 14-13. The penultimate set was highlighted by a seven-point run driven by six service points from Naomi Cabello. A block from Allen ended the set to give the Pack a 2-0 edge and a 25-20 win.
Set Three (25-13)
Another strong showing from NC State led to a 25-13 win to close the match, with the Pack never trailing in a set for the second time of the night. NC State captured six of the last seven points en route to another dominant performance.
Next Up
The second leg of the Wolfpack's weekend homestand will take place on Sunday, October 30 at 1 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum against No. 10 Georgia Tech. Doors are scheduled to open as 12 p.m.
