NC State's Rafa Izquierdo Luque and Joseph Wayand win ITA regional title

Wolfpack duo knock off Wake Forest team in ITA regional finals
CARY The NC State duo of Joseph Wayand and Rafael Iziquierdo Luque captured the ITA Regional doubles title on Tuesday.
Wayand, a sophomore from Cary, and Iziquierdo Luque, a fifth-year from Santiago de Compostella, Spain, defeated Filippo Moroni and Juan Lopez De Azcona from Wake Forest 6-4, 6-4 in the finals.
With the win, Wayand and Iziquierdo Luque qualify for a spot in the fall championships next week (Nov. 2-6) in San Diego, California.
Wayand was a state champion in doubles competition at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh. Iziquierdo Luque competed mostly in singles a year ago and improved his overall doubles record to 8-12 for his career.
