RALEIGH – NC State men's soccer (5-5-4, 1-4-2 ACC) put together a solid result in its final home ACC match of the season as it tied 1-1 with fourth-ranked Syracuse (12-2-2, 5-1-0) on Friday night.
The match marked the Wolfpack's third against a top-10 opponent this season, and the team became just the fourth to earn a point against the Orange in 2022. NC State has now come away with a draw against Syracuse in back-to-back seasons.
The Pack's performance against one of the nation's best squads was highlighted by a career-high eight saves from sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios. His previous career-best mark was six against Wake Forest earlier this season, and Hatsios played a huge role in preventing Syracuse from ever jumping in front and helping earn his team a valuable point in conference play.
Noe Cabezas was the goal scorer for NC State, finding the back of the net in the 51st minute for his first of the year. Henrique Santos was credited with the assist after being tackled from behind while making the pass over to Cabezas who took advantage of the play-on with a strike from outside the box.

The goal put the Wolfpack up 1-0 over the Orange, but it took Syracuse just two minutes to find the equalizer. Noah Singelmann crossed a ball from deep in the right corner that bent into the box and went off a Wolfpack defender.
Hatsios went on to make four saves the rest of the outing to ensure that the score remained tied. NC State got a few more looks of its own down the stretch in the second half, but none were on target.
Prior to the match, the program celebrated the careers of six members of the Class of 2022 - Declan Brose, Kendall Edwards, Win Ellis, Conor Kelly, Jared Miller and Pablo Pedregosa.
