
Collins Featured on Preseason Watch List for Cheryl Miller Award

Annual award honors the top small forward in women’s NCAA Division I basketball
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – NC State women's basketball graduate forward Mimi Collins has been named one of 20 watch list candidates for the 2023 Katrina McClain Award, an honor that recognizes the top small forward in women's NCAA Division I basketball each year.
Collins transferred to NC State from Maryland during the offseason and was named the No. 22 impact transfer in the nation by ESPN.com last week.
A native of Slidell, La., Collins will make an instant impact as part of a solid Wolfpack frontcourt. She averages 7.9 points and 4.7 rebounds on her career and has shown her versatility with an ability to knock down the three-point shot. She has connected on 38.3 percent of her career triples and is shooting 47.4 percent (289-of-610) overall).
Collins was a 2021 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection after putting together averages of 10.6 points and 6.2 rebounds with the Terms that season. In total, she has scored in double figures in 32 career games and tallied a pair of 20+ point outings.
In mid-February, the watch list will be narrowed down to 10 players. In March, five finalists will be presented to Cheryl Miller and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. Details for the presentation of this year's award will be announced at a later date.
