RALEIGH – After spending back-to-back weeks as the nation's No. 4 team, NC State women's basketball moved up to No. 3 in the latest release of the Associated Press Top 25 on Monday.
The Wolfpack continues to own the nation's longest active streak of top-five rankings as it has been ranked fifth or higher in the last 27 AP polls. That streak started on Week 3 of last season (Dec. 7, 2020).
NC State is currently riding an eight-game winning streak as it has compiled an 18-2 overall record through the first 20 games of the 2021-22 campaign. The Wolfpack is a perfect 9-0 in ACC play, marking just the third time in program history that it has put together such a mark in league action.
The Wolfpack most recently defeated then-No. 3 Louisville (68-59) and Virginia Tech (51-45) over the weekend. The squad's win over the Cardinals was its fifth over a ranked team and second over a top-five team this season. NC State overcame a double-digit fourth-quarter deficit to beat Louisville on Thursday and remained perfect in ACC action with a Sunday victory over the Hokies.
NC State is back in action on Sunday, Jan. 30 when it makes the short trip to Chapel Hill, N.C., for its second regular-season matchup with the Tar Heels. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. on the ACC Network.
