Shepard Named EAGL Specialist of the Week

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - NC State junior gymnast Emily Shepard has been named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Specialist of the Week, as announced by the conference office Wednesday. The honors are the first of Shepard's career.

Shepard recorded a three-event effort in NC State's quad-meet wins over Rutgers, North Carolina and New Hampshire. The Olathe, Kan., native earned team-leading scores of 9.875 on beam and 9.825 on bars and finished off the meet with a 9.775 on floor. Her beam and bars marks were good to earn her podium finishes on the events as she placed third in each.
NC State returns to action Saturday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. as it hosts Towson in Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum.
