DURHAM, N.C. – Duke scored 58 points in the paint on its way to an 88-73 win over NC State Saturday afternoon inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Terquavion Smith led NC State with 19 points.

Ebenezer Dowuona finished one rebound short of a double-double as he tied his career-highs in both points (10) and rebounds (9).
The Pack jumped out to a 9-2 lead as NC State made three of its first four shots. Duke battled back to tie the score at 15 at the first media timeout and the game remained close throughout the next 10 minutes. With NC State trailing 30-27, Duke went on a 6-0 run to open its largest lead of the half. The Pack closed to within four points at 38-34, but a 7-2 Duke run to end the half gave the Blue Devils a 45-36 lead at the break.
Smith opened the second half with a bucket to cut the deficit to seven, but Duke scored 11 of the next 13 points to take a 16 point lead with 15:41 to play.
Duke's lead would grow to as large as 19 points, but the Pack never quit, cutting the deficit to nine on three different occasions in the final six minutes.
Duke outscored NC State, 58-38, in points in the paint. Mark Williams scored 19 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had two assists while Paolo Banchero added 21 points and eight rebounds.
NC State is back in action Wednesday evening when it hosts Virginia Tech inside PNC Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on the ACC Network.
