RALEIGH – The NC State men's soccer team (3-1-0) wrapped up weekend action at the George Tarantini Classic by earning a 2-1 victory over the visiting UCF Knights (1-3-0) on Monday night.
In a matchup that featured two teams that are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, Yaniv Bazini and Jared Miller were the stars of the night for the Wolfpack as they each tallied the first goal of their respective careers.
The teams ended the outing deadlocked at 11 apiece in shots, but NC State goalkeeper Leon Krapf made saves on four of the Knights' five shots on target to help put away the win.
Bazini put the first mark on the scoring column in the 16th minute with a perfectly-executed header past Knights keeper Matt Douglass. Henrique Santos sent an entry pass to Alex Hernandez in the box, and Hernandez worked his way over to the right side of the box. His ball into the goal area set Bazini up for the easy finish into the back left corner.

NC State controlled the remainder of the first half, not giving a single shot up to UCF for the final 30 minutes. After a few quality attempts by the Pack, Miller doubled the team's lead in the 43rd minute. The junior forward entered the game in the 41st minute and water no time in tallying his first points as a member of the Pack. Ivy Brisma sent a bullet of a strike ricocheting off the crossbar, but Miller was there to collect the rebound and finish the job.

UCF got on the board with just over 16 minutes left in the outing, as Gino Vivi blasted a shot from the top of the box that beat out Krapf in the top right corner.
The Wolfpack out-shot the Knights 8-2 in the first half, with the final eight strikes of the period coming from the feet or heads of NC State.
NC State is set to stop into conference play on Friday, Sept. 10 as it hosts its ACC home opener against fourth-ranked Clemson. That match is set to kick off at 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Stadium, and the game will be aired live on ACCNX.
