Zimmer Helps German U19 Team Win Opening Match Of UEFA Championship Qualifier

Freshman Nina Zimmer of the NC State women's soccer team played 45 minutes on Wednesday in Germany's 6-1 win over Slovenia in the opening match of U19 UEFA Championship qualifying rounds. In a group with Russia, Belgium and today's opening opponent in Volgograd, Russia, Germany will face the host Russia on Saturday.
The top teams in this League A Round 1 phase will advance to Round 2 in Spring 2022, with the draw to be held in late 2021. From there, the seven League A group winners in the Round 2 groups join the finals host Czech Republic in the 2022 U19 UEFA Championship from June 27 to July 9.
