Wolfpack alum clocks 48.33 in ISL competition
NAPLES, Italy – After setting an American record (48.91) on Saturday, Wolfpack swimming alumnus Coleman Stewart followed up with a world record performance on Sunday, clocking in at 48.33 in the event to establish the new all-time best mark.
Stewart is currently representing the Cali Condors during the 2021 International Swimming League (ISL) season. His 48.91 came as the lead-off split for the Condors' 400 medley relay on Saturday, and he smashed the world record with his 48.33 in Sunday's 100-meter backstroke race that he won.
Swimming at the Piscina Felice Scandone, the York, Pa., native broke the record in the same pool in which he represented the United States for the first time in his career at the 2019 World University Games.
Fellow alumnus Justin Ress, also representing the Condors, finished second in the race behind Stewart. He clocked in at 50.41.
