Following a standout performance on opening weekend, junior defender Jenna Butler has been named to TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week.
The Gainesville, Va., native was responsible for scoring two of the team's four goals on opening weekend, as the Wolfpack earned a 2-2 (2OT) draw at No. 9 Georgetown on August 19 followed by a 2-1 win at Old Dominion on August 22.
Butler scored the equalizer in the 65th minute against the Hoyas to eventually help the squad earn a strong result, as she connected with Lulu Guttenberger on a long free kick that was headed in.
She then tallied the late go-ahead goal in the 87th minute against the Monarchs on a header off a corner that was serviced by Guttenberger.
NC State returns to action Thursday when it travels to Campbell for a 7 p.m. contest at Eakes Athletics Complex in Buies Creek, N.C. The contest will be broadcast on ESPN+.
