GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State volleyball's Melissa Evans has been named to the 2021 Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team as announced by the league office on Friday morning.
Evans earns her fourth preseason accolade as she was also a member of the Preseason All-ACC teams in 2018, 2019 and 2020. The graduate student is coming off a great senior season as she placed her name on the All-ACC First Team, becoming the first NC State player in program history to record four All-ACC honors.
She finished the season leading the team averaging 3.97 kills per set which ranked her fifth overall in the ACC. In the match against North Carolina on Oct. 18, Evans eclipsed 1,000 career kills which made her the fourth active ACC player to reach that threshold.
Additionally, Evans posted double-digit kills in 12 of the Wolfpack's 17 games highlighted by tallying three 20-plus kill performances. She finished the year second on the team with 13 service aces and led all of NC State's pin hitters with 0.53 blocks per set.
The Pack will begin its 2021 campaign with an exhibition match against Coastal Carolina on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum. The match is free and open to the public. The regular season kicks off at the Tennessee Classic on Aug. 27 when NC State takes on ETSU at 4 p.m. in Knoxville.
