Volleyball Garners USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The NC State volleyball team has received a USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Monday.

The honors mark the second-straight year in which the program has tabbed the honors, and the 2020 season marks the third accolades in the last four years. NC State is one of eight ACC teams to earn the laurels.

The Wolfpack additionally was named to the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award Honor Roll, a group of institutions that represent the top 20% of team GPAs in each division.

The award is provided annually to volleyball teams who maintain a year-long team grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. The United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) awarded a total of 1,313 teams for the 2019-2020 season, topping last years record by almost 200 teams. The award was first initiated in the 1992-93 academic year.
