Softball Places Four on All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Four NC State softball student-athletes were named to the All-ACC Academic Team for their athletic and academic success during the 2020-21 year, as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
Randi Farricker, Tatyana Forbes, Logan Morris and Sam Russ all earned the accolades, making it the most All-ACC Academic honors in a single-season for NC State. It is the first honor of Farricker, Forbes and Morris' career and the second for Russ.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the team.
Farricker had a breakout season where she picked up All-ACC honors after leading the ACC in home runs. Her 17 home runs during the 2021 season rank fourth most in program history and were 11th nationally through the regular-season. Farricker led NC State with a .788 slugging percentage, which also ranked second in the ACC. She is enrolled in NC State's Master of Animal Science program after earning her undergraduate degree in May 2020.
Forbes capped off her season with a stellar performance at the 2021 ACC Championships, where she was named to the All-Tournament team after leading the championship in hits. Forbes led the team with 51 hits and was second in batting average (.359) and had a team-best 15 multi-hit games. The fifth-year senior was 14-of-17 on stolen bases and ends her NC State career as the program's career batting average and on-base percentage leader. Forbes earned her master's in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management this spring.
Morris became the 16th NC State player in program history to earn NFCA All-Region honors, after an outstanding season where she started 47 of her 48 games played in at third base. Morris led the ACC with 45 RBI, a number that ranks top-10 all-time at NC State and was one of three Wolfpack players to register double-digit home runs. She batted .338 with a .608 slugging percentage and led the Pack with 15 multi-RBI performances. Morris is set to earn her degree in Business Administration later this year.
Russ also earned All-ACC honors after starting all 51 games in the outfield for NC State where she had 13 multi-hit and eight multi-RBI games, including three walk off home runs. She reached base in 39 of her 49 games played and ranked top-four on the NC State team in every statistical category. Russ led the ACC with 32 stolen bases, tying her own school single-season record from 2019. She also set the program career record with 103. Russ earned her undergraduate degree this spring in Biological Sciences.
