Program-Record Three Student-Athletes Named to Men's Tennis All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Yannai Barkai, Robin Catry and Rafa Izquierdo Luque have each been placed on the 2021 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
The three All-ACC Academic honors are the most in a single season in program history. Each member of the trio earns the accolade for the first time, and the group has a combined cumulative GPA of 3.137.

Barkai comes off a successful junior campaign, having been ranked highly in doubles throughout the course of the year. The Kiryat Ono, Israel, native garnered multiple ACC Doubles Team of the Week accolades with partner Tadas Babelis. He compiled a 10-6 dual match doubles record that included five ACC wins.
Catry recorded a 10-6 dual match singles record, competing for the most part at the four and five positions. He additionally competed in doubles competition that was highlighted by a win with partner Babelis over then-No. 8 Trent Bryde and Tyler Zink of Georgia. The sophomore was named UTR/ITA Player of the Week on Feb. 23. The sophomore was ranked alongside Babelis for the majority of the 2021 year.
Izquierdo Luque was a steadfast competitor for NC State at numbers two and three singles, and he went undefeated at the three position. He spent the majority of the season ranked in singles, reaching his highest placement of the year at No. 76.
In order to be named to the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during his or her academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team members.
