GREESNBORO, N.C. - The NC State volleyball team placed three student-athletes on the All-ACC Academic team, as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon. Melissa Evans, Kristen McDaniel and Jade Parchment all earned the honor for their athletic and academic success during the 2020-21 school year.Â
Â
It is the first honor for both McDaniel and Evans, while Parchment also earned the accolade in 2018. The three honorees are the most for NC State since 2016 and tie for the second-most all-time while this is the 11th-straight season the Wolfpack has been represented on the team.
Â
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during their academic career. The selection is also based on a student-athlete's athletic performance.Â
Â
Evans punctuated an outstanding season with a pair of postseason honors, earning All-ACC First Team and AVCA East All-Region awards. The senior became the first NC State player to receive four All-ACC honors after averaging 3.97 kills in 2020-21. She made history for the Pack, eclipsing 1,000 career kills and moving into ninth all-time at NC State with 1,189 in her career. Evans also averaged 2.5 digs per set, 0.53 blocks per set and 13 service aces for the Pack. She was also recognized earlier this season as a Senior CLASS Award Candidate.Â
Â
Evans earned her NC State undergraduate degree in December 2020 and is currently pursuing her M.S. in Communications.Â
Â
Parchment had a breakout season for NC State, averaging 3.78 kills per set which ranked in the top-10 in the ACC. She notched 14 double-digit kill matches, including eight in a row and twice set her career-high with 23 kills. Parchment led the Wolfpack with 15 service aces and also averaged 2.12 digs per set. Her 810 career kills rank ninth in the rally scoring era of the program.Â
Â
Parchment maintains above a 3.5 GPA in the Poole College of Management where she is pursuing a degree in Business Administration.Â
Â
McDaniel was a steady force, starting all 17 matches in 2020-21 for NC State as the team's primary setter. Stepping into the role this season, McDaniel averaged 9.87 assists per set and totaled 602 on the season which ranked fourth in the ACC. She opened the season with five-straight matches where she bested her career-high, ultimately recording a personal-best 50 against Virginia. McDaniel also ranked second on the team with 178 digs, 2.92 per set.Â
Â
McDaniel is pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences from NC State's Department of Biological Sciences and maintains above a 3.7 career GPA.Â
Â
The NC State volleyball team earned the athletic department's annual Chancellor's Cup earlier this spring, awarded to the men's and women's athletic teams with the highest annual grade point average in addition to being honored with the 2020 UMSC/AVCA Team Academic Award.Â
