Softball Earns Seven Seed in ACC Tournament

RALEIGH - The NC State Softball team will head to the 2021 ACC Softball Championship next week, May 12-15, in Louisville, Ky. as the seventh-seed. NC State (25-24, 15-22 ACC) is set to face off in the first round against 10-seed, North Carolina (14-25, 10-19 ACC) on Wednesday, May 12 at 3:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network.

After last season's tournament being canceled, 2021 marks the first time NC State has qualified to back-to-back tournaments since the 2014 and 2015 season. NC State earned the eight seed in the 2019 tournament in head coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift's first season. In 2019, the Wolfpack upset No. 1 seed Virginia Tech in the second round, becoming the first eight seed to reach the semifinals since 2011.

NC State and North Carolina last met in the 2019 ACC Championship semifinals, where North Carolina won 6-1.

Should the Wolfpack win and advance, they would then take on No. 2 seed, Florida State, May 13 at 5 p.m.
