INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NC State men's tennis squad will send fifth year Alexis Galarneau to compete in the 2021 NCAA Singles Championship, as announced by the NCAA on Tuesday. The fifth year earned one of 51 at-large bids.
Doubles pairing Tadas Babelis and Yannai Barkai were selected as alternates for the 2021 NCAA Doubles Championship. Alternates replace any withdrawals from the tournament made within five days of the selection announcement. If the withdrawing student-athlete was selected by automatic qualification, the next eligible doubles team from that conference will be considered before substituting from the alternate list.
The singles and doubles championships will take place at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. Singles and doubles championship competition runs May 23-28.
No. 24Â Galarneau's singles bid marks his third-straight year with a berth. The fifth year has been ranked in the top 25 of the Oracle/ITA rankings for the entirety of the 2021 season and has defeated six ranked opponents over the course of the year.
The Laval, Canada, native was selected to the All-ACC First Team, his fourth All-ACC honor. He compiled a 10-2 singles record in dual match play and competed exclusively at the number one singles position.
Babelis and Barkai check in as the second alternate pair.
